The Path We Choose Featuring Karol Ward
Hey everyone, Umer here!
When I asked Karol Ward, “What path did you choose?” her answer was simple but powerful: connection. Not just with other people, but with herself, her body, and eventually something deeper and spiritual.
As someone who grew up moving from place to place, constantly observing how people relate and belong, Karol developed a lifelong curiosity about why we connect, why we withdraw, and what really builds confidence from the inside out. Our conversation felt less like an interview and more like a masterclass in self-awareness.
Here is what I learned.
Confidence Is Built, Not Given
Karol said something that stuck with me: “Confidence is not static. It is very fluid and you can expand it.”
She sees it every day in her work. People start with self-doubt and slowly build belief through small experiences, feedback, and reflection. Confidence is not something you either have or do not have. It is something you practice.
Choose Your Inputs
One of the biggest confidence killers is what you consume and who you surround yourself with. Karol calls negative people “confidence crushers.”
Her advice was simple. If your mood drops every time you scroll, get off. If your friends make you feel small, create distance. What you read, watch, and listen to shapes how you see yourself.
Create Protected Time
This was one of my favorite ideas. Karol talked about creating “protected time” where you are not reacting to the world. No phone. No tasks. Just space to think, walk, breathe, or stare out the window.
She said, “You need time to let your thoughts and dreams download.” That time is not wasted. It is where clarity and creativity come from.
Feel Your Wins
Instead of just saying thank you when someone compliments you, Karol suggests linking the feeling to the achievement.
If someone says, “You did a great job,” respond with: “Thank you, I feel really proud of how that turned out.” Her point was that confidence grows when you emotionally register your progress, not just mentally acknowledge it.
Pause When You Panic
For public speaking or high-pressure moments, Karol gave one simple rule: pause. Stop. Breathe. Look up. Continue.
She said the audience does not panic until you panic. Silence actually makes you look more confident, not less.
Build Self-Awareness
One line that summed up the whole conversation for me was this: “Self-awareness is the hidden secret of success.”
The most grounded and effective people Karol works with are not frantic or perfect. They are aware. They know their limits, their patterns, and when to ask for help.
This conversation with Deanne reinforced the importance of strong systems, documentation, and empowering your team. If this resonated with you, the full episode dives deeper into how to organize, optimize, and profit in your business.
